Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)/ Predictive Maintenance (PdM)
Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) is also called Predictive Maintenance (PdM). CBM includes Condition Monitoring (CM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective Maintenance & Preventive Maintenance as part of it. The misconception is Condition Monitoring (CM) is understood as Predictive Maintenance (PdM) or Condition Based Maintenance (CBM). Actually, CM is one of the major parts of PdM (CBM). We need to understand the difference between Maintenance & Monitoring here.
Our Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) technique focuses not only on ‘reduction in the rate of failures of assets’ but on top of it, we focus ‘reliability of asset’. For us ‘Reliability of Asset’ means keeping all the parameters affecting the reliability of assets (cause failures), at a much lower level than the standard level. For Example, if the limit of vibration level is 4 mm/sec for a particular asset, then we maintain the vibration always below 3 mm/sec. Maintenance is basically maintaining these parameters within a safe level.
