Transmission Towers
Normally, the condition assessment of Transmission Tower includes only corrosion risk assessment of steel framing of transmission tower. But this inspection doesn’t give any indications about any electrical faults with transmission lines or at bushings or at cable joints. Our Condition Assessment includes faults in these components.
Condition Assessment (CAss) of Transmission Towers is being done with a combination of two techniques, Ultrasound Assessment & Thermography. It needs, an telephoto lens with Thermal Imaging Infrared Camera to do the thermography & Parabolic Sensors with Ultrasound Analyser to do ultrasound assessment to read the faults from safe distance.
The inspection of Transmission tower is done early morning at/ before sunrise and before sun loading on the structure or this can be done one hour after sunset. Hence, this inspection is done off working hours normally. We reach every transmission tower with Thermal Imaging Infrared Camera & Ultrasound Analyser & inspect each component (Bushings, Insulators, Cable Joints etc) of each phase of each side of the transmission tower.
This CAss reveals faults like Loose Connection in Cable Joints, Tracking at Insulators, Corona Formation & smallest Arcing in Transmission Towers. This inspection is done from very safe distance & can be done on Transmission Lines of any higher voltage ratings.
