Condition Assessment of Machine Train
When more than two or more machines Machines are coupled to each other with the same axis of their shafts, the assembly is called Machine Train. The photo here is of machine train having Turbine – Gearbox – Generator Coupled together.
Condition Assessment of different parts of the machines in these type of Machine Train can be done effectively with a combination of techniques like Vibration Measurement, Ultrasound Measurement, thermography & Oil Particle Analysis. Gearbox is a common factor in most of such type of machine trains. It can be a train of Turbine – Motor – GB – Blower unit or Turbine – GB – Generator unit.
Vibration Probing Study gives us an idea about, the rigidity of foundation, Base Rail Deformation, Fastening, Soft Foot Conditions etc. Every Machine in the Machine Train is inspected individually & then the complete train assembly.
This inspection can reveal faults like Misalignment, Bent Shaft, Transferred Vibration, Vibration Resonance, Unbalanced Rotors, Faulty Bearings, in the machine train.
